In 2012, the independent opera group Skull of Yorick Productions was found by Kassandra Dimopoulou and Philip Modinos in London. A year later, they moved their base from London to Thessaloniki, in order to create a whole new dynamic around Independent Opera Productions in Greece and to fill the gap of operatic activity in Thessaloniki.
Since then, their team has successfully created:

After only 4 years, Thessaloniki became a vibrant operatic nest which attracts creative and talented artists from around the world.
Hellenic Opera Corporation was founded in 2016 by the co-founder of Skull of Yorick Productions, Philip Modinos. Kassandra Dimopoulou has been the Artistic Director of the company from 2016 until 2020.

HOC has collaborated with main cultural institutions such as:
In only 4 years from its founding, the team of HOC has managed to put on stage more than 10 operas - all new productions- several Opera Studios and has performed more than 100 performances all over Greece. Between 2013 and 20120, Thessaloniki, a city that has no opera house and a very low opera activity, had become a new operatic field that helped many artists to make their steps on stage.
Every year, around 10.000 people came to the performances of HOC and the number was increasing rapidly. Despite the financial crisis of Greece and any difficulties that came out of that, the people who worked in HOC were determined to stand their ground and continue the cultural empowerment, which they did until the Lockdown.
Since 2021, the Company continues its course in Athens, Greece.
Since then, their team has successfully created:
- The first operatic festival in Greece, the "Greek Opera Festival", which takes place since 2015 at the Odeon of the Ancient Roman Forum of Thessaloniki.
- The "Opera Studio Skull of Yorick Productions" which was created in order to put young opera singers on stage.
- The project "Opera da Camera Oscura" which helps aspiring opera artists to make important role debuts.
